command + space works

After upgrading the Mac OS, the “command + space” for switching input mode was not working. I found that the shortcut for switching input mode had been changed to “control + space” due to the OS version.

Changes should be made from the settings screen below.

System Preferences > Keyboard > Shortcuts > Input Source > Select Previous Input Source

However, “command + space” is used by Spotlight search, so it cannot be changed unless the following check box is unchecked.

System Preferences > Keyboard > Shortcuts > Spotlight > Show Spotlight Search

If you use the Spotlight search shortcut often, you can enable the check box again later. The process is to actually set it up by typing with the keyboard.

Incidentally, when “control + space” is set, “^space” is displayed in the screen and “^” is recognized as a control key. The ability to restore the default is also useful.

If you have been having trouble with the input mode switching shortcut not working, please give it a try.
